Install

ReadHalo is a Chrome extension. It works in Chrome 114 or later, and in browsers built on Chrome: Edge, Brave and Arc.

  1. On ReadHalo’s Chrome Web Store page, choose Add to Chrome, then Add extension. Edge first asks you to Allow extensions from other stores.
  2. Pin it so it’s always one click away: choose the Extensions button (the puzzle piece beside the address bar), then the pin next to ReadHalo. The ReadHalo icon stays in the toolbar.

Your first article

ReadHalo opens its practice page once it’s installed. Press Play to hear it with a device voice; no account needed.

Then open any article, choose the ReadHalo icon, and choose Listen to this page. To have the player appear by itself on a site’s articles, choose Automatically under Player on this site. On X and Reddit, that gives each post its own Listen button instead.

If nothing happens on a site, open chrome://extensions, choose Details under ReadHalo, and check that Site access includes it. Some pages don’t expose their article text, and the device voices on offer vary by computer.

Sign in and free voices

Choose the ReadHalo icon, then Sign in. Your account opens in a new tab: enter your email, then the 6-digit code we send you. No account yet? Signing in creates one. This browser connects by itself, and ReadHalo returns you to your article.

Signed in, you get free listening every month with Natural voices, with no card. It resets on the first of each month; unused listening doesn’t roll over.

If a code expires, choose Send a new code. Never share a code with anyone, including us. Sign in with the same email in each browser to share Premium. Sign out on all devices on Manage account disconnects every browser at once.

Premium voices and listening

Choose the ReadHalo icon and pick a Premium voice under Voice, or open Reading options (the 1× button) in the player, then Voice.

Manage account shows your percentage used and when your allowance resets. A device voice keeps reading when Premium voices can’t be reached or your allowance runs out.

Audio you’ve played is saved in this browser for up to 30 days, and replaying it doesn’t use more allowance while your access lasts. A different voice or speed, audio that’s no longer saved, or audio played in an Incognito window (which isn’t saved) is made again and uses your allowance. ReadHalo prepares the next few sentences ahead, so pausing doesn’t give back listening already used. See how the listening allowance works.

Get Premium

About 15 hours a month with Natural voices.

  1. Choose the ReadHalo icon, then Get Premium (or your plan’s name, once you have one). Manage account opens.
  2. Continue to checkout. Razorpay takes the payment, ₹149 a month.
  3. Premium starts once the payment is confirmed. If Manage account doesn’t show it yet, choose Refresh payment status.

If the payment stays uncertain, keep your payment reference and write to us before trying again, so you aren’t charged twice.

Cancel Premium

Open Manage account, choose Cancel renewal and confirm, then Refresh payment status to check that renewal has stopped. Premium stays until the date shown, and device voices stay free after that.

Cancelling doesn’t refund the current period. See refunds and cancellation, and deleting your account.

Safari and iPhone

ReadHalo for Safari on iPhone and Mac, with an iPhone app, comes later. Premium belongs to your account, not your browser.
